Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 Settings

How to Configure Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000 to connect to Auslin.

Dial-Up Residential settings creation for Windows 95, 98, 2000, ME

Step 1 Click the Start button. Step 2 Click Run

Note: Windows ME allows the Run option to be removed from the Start Menu. If this has occurred, hold down the Windows Key (between CTRL and ALT) and press the letter R.

Step 3 Press the Delete key to clear any text in the Open field and type inetwiz

Step 4 Click OK to launch the Internet Setup Wizard

Step 5 Select Connect using my phone line and click Next

Note: If you have reinstalled network components, you may receive version conflict error messages during this process and are prompted for the Windows disk. If this occurs, click Yes when you are prompted to keep a newer version of the Secure32.dll and rpc*.dll files. Click No for all other files.

Step 6 The wizard will automatically select your modem. If you wish to change it, select another modem from the drop down list. Click OK and then Next

Step 7 Select Create a new dial-up connection and click Next

Note: This screen will appear when another Dial-Up Networking Connection already exists - such as a previous ISP. If this is this case, remember to remove the mail account if you no longer wish to use.

Step 8 Type the MEGAPOP number 0198308888 in the Telephone Number field

Step 9 Remove the tick from the check box (under Australia (61), in the Country/Region Name and Code field - Dial using area code and country code (Win95) or Dial using Area Code and Dialling Properties (Win98/ME/NT) or Use Area Code and Dialling Rules (Win2000)

Step 10 Type your Username and press the Tab key

Step 11 Type your Password and click Next to complete the configuration Note: Please remember that passwords are case sensitive

Step 12 Press the Delete key to clear the Connection Name field

Step 13 Type BigPond as the Connection Name and click Next

NOTE: If you get the error `a connection with this name already exists` you will need to type BigPond2 instead.

Step 14 At this stage you are presented with the option of setting up your Internet mail account. If you wish to proceed, select Yes and click Next

Step 15 You may be asked whether you would like to use an existing account. a. If BigPond (mail.bigpond.com) is listed, you can select it and click Next b. Confirm the settings are correct, then click Accept Settings and Next c. Click Finish

Step 16 Otherwise, type in a Display Name for the email and click Next Note: Use your full name or a company name if appropriate. (This is the name that will appear on every email you send)

Step 17 Select I already have an email address that I`d like to use. In the E-mail Address field, type your email address using the format - username@bigpond.com and click Next

Step 18 In the Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server fields, type mail.bigpond.com and click Next

Step 19 Your Username should already be entered in the Account Name field. Type your password in the Password Field. You may select the checkbox to Remember Password and click Next

Step 20 The configuration is now complete. Click Finish
